About us
BACH was established by RIISA in 1998 and has gained more than 25 years of experience in claims handling and consultancy services for the Norwegian and international insurance market.
We offer high-quality services across the entire spectrum of insurance and compensation law, and handle cases for most Norwegian insurance companies. In addition, we assist a number of European and international insurance companies and associations.
We know that the needs of insurance companies change rapidly. BACH offers flexible services customised to our customers.
Expertise
Our focus is always on delivering quality to our clients, and all our employees maintain a high professional level. Many also have extensive experience in insurance, and most are lawyers or authorised paralegals.
In our experience, quality and expertise pay off, both in terms of customer satisfaction and the insurance company's finances. We deliver claims handling at the highest level.
The need for external claims handling can have many causes. If you don't have your own claims handling organisation, you may need to let a professional claims handling company take care of claims handling. Even with a large organisation, complicated individual cases can take up considerable resources.
BACH offers flexible solutions for handling insurance claims. We can handle everything from a single case to full portfolios. We offer assistance at every stage of the claims process, and can handle the case from the time the claim is reported to the time of settlement. We also handle run-off portfolios for products or businesses that have been discontinued.
When claims are handled externally, it is important that the insurance company's profile is recognisable to the customer. Our claims handling is always in line with the insurance company's guidelines and profile for claims settlement, with a dialogue that takes account of the customer and the insurance company's need for effective assistance.
We emphasise efficiency and professional quality in our work. Thanks to our experience and professional expertise, we can take control of claims handling at an early stage. In our experience, this enables us to achieve more efficient and cost-effective solutions for our customers. Together with RIISA, we form the country's leading professional environment in insurance law.
BACH offers consultancy services in all areas of insurance. We have particular expertise in settlements, but can also assist with product development, drafting insurance terms and conditions and drawing up insurance contracts.
It is not always easy to predict the need for qualified employees. BACH therefore offers consultancy services tailored to the assignment in question. We take on both long and short-term assignments, such as planned leave of absence or acute backlogs, and make no demands on frequency or duration. Our employees are highly qualified for their assignments. In addition to the work performed, we find that our clients benefit greatly from the transfer of expertise to which our consultants contribute.
BACH has extensive experience of settling cases under vehicle liability and employee insurance policies, both statutory and extended. In recent years, we have handled several hundred cases under the Automobile Liability Act and the Workers' Compensation Act. Several of our employees also have special expertise in occupational diseases. In many cases, the cases involve complicated issues relating to the basis of liability, causation and the assessment of compensation, and therefore require experienced and qualified employees. Many employers also take out extended insurance policies for their employees, such as leisure accident insurance, group accident and cover to and from work. We have extensive experience in settling claims under such employee insurance policies.
Personal insurance is sold under many names and with different types of cover. What the products have in common is that they are linked to accidents, illnesses, disability or death of the insured. In the event of a claim, the insured often find themselves in a difficult life situation with a need for rapid financial clarification.
BACH has extensive experience with private products related to accidents, illnesses, disability, pensions and death. We also have experience with combined cover such as child insurance.
Personal insurance is often taken out by the insured person or their immediate family. In many cases, the injured party therefore has an expectation of assistance and payment in a difficult life situation. This places special demands on customer consideration and efficiency in case processing.
BACH has extensive experience in the settlement of group personal insurance, and many employers and organisations take out comprehensive insurance for their employees and members. Examples include health insurance, accident insurance, sick leave insurance, sick pay, critical illness, other illness and group life insurance.
When selling real estate, many sellers take out insurance that covers their liability in the event of faults or defects. If the buyer makes a claim, both factual and legal issues may arise. BACH has extensive experience in assisting insurance companies with the settlement of claims. Our employees have the professional expertise and experience necessary to ensure effective and reasonable claims settlements. At the same time, we are conscious of protecting the insurance company's customers who have taken out the insurance. Our philosophy is that a good claims settlement should be correct, fair and fast. In this way, we safeguard the interests of the insurance company, the policyholder and the claimant. Some cases cannot be resolved and must be dealt with in court. Our employees have litigated a large number of cases under the Sale of Goods Act before Norwegian courts. Our experience in assessing litigation risk also gives us an advantage when handling claims.
Our employees have extensive experience of liability insurance under both private and commercial insurance policies. Many also have experience from the liability and recourse departments of several Norwegian insurance companies, and have experience of negotiation and mediation.
Commercial liability can cover everything from professional liability to corporate liability and product liability. Such cover is relevant for architects, lawyers, craftsmen, contractors and manufacturers, among others, who risk incurring liability through their activities.
Settlement of these liability coverages requires good knowledge of tort law, including the basis for liability in and outside the contract, the various standard contracts in Norwegian construction law, as well as good negotiation skills and business understanding. Follow-up of recourse claims requires good knowledge of possible grounds for liability and possible liable parties, in addition to the various liability coverages on the market.
Private individuals can be liable in many ways, for example as a cyclist, motorist, dog owner, parent or neighbour. Most private property damage insurance policies include liability insurance that covers the insured's legal liability for damages related to the insured object. Insurance settlements for liability insurance require knowledge of the various bases of liability, and not least the limitations of liability.
The Norwegian Motor Insurers' Association has approved BACH as a Green Card correspondent in Norway. We also represent a number of European insurance companies under the EU's Fourth Motor Vehicle Directive. Damage abroad raises various legal issues, such as choice of law and jurisdiction. However, it is the assessment of causality and the assessment of compensation that often proves to be the most demanding.
More information about the companies we represent can be found on the Norwegian Motor Insurers’ Bureau (Trafikkforsikringsforeningen) website, www.tff.no..
